Welcome to our VJ content section - the purpose of this page is to give you a bit more info about the VJ content we have for download in our shop.
We've now added loops from a number of artists, including Kontainer, AV3, CataraX, Hollowsphere, Kid Kadian and of course our own Acidgfx clips. Now that the system is properly up and running we're adding more content regularly so please check back often for updates.
Our video clips are provided in the formats listed below. All these clips also include a "Public Performance License" so you can use them in your own live performances and productions. Please see our licensing page for a full explanation of the licensing. Below are more details about how the Clips are encoded as well as links to test clips you can download to check the videos will work well with your VJ software/hardware.

When you get to the download page, all the available formats for each clip will be in the download folder so you can download one or all of them so you can see which format works best on your system.

If you want check that our file formats work ok on your system then download the test clips. They should look like the image and the flash video below:
DOWNLOAD Test clip 1 - Highest quality (right-click/save-as)
DOWNLOAD Test clip 3 - Medium quality (right-click/save-as)
DOWNLOAD Test clip 4 - Medium quality (right-click/save-as)
If you think we've missed a codec or resolution which would be popular with our customers then please email and let us know and we'll happily consider it.

VJ Loops: These are short videos which loop seamlessly. Anything from 1sec to 2min in length.
VJ Clips: These are "one-shot" short videos which don't necessarily loop seamlessly and are from 1sec to 2min in length.
VJ Backdrops: These are longer videos which are ideal for use as backgrounds which you can then mix over with your own content. These normally fade from and to black at each end of the clip and are 2min-5min in length.
You can get an idea of the sort of clips below - just click the "pick a different clip" link to see a few random clips. Most of the clips should have "Tags" which work just like on youtube - click on a tag for similar clips. Happy hunting :)

Encoding: 640x480 Quicktime Photo-JPEG @ 70% quality, 25fps
File format: .MOV Compatibility: Windows & Macintosh
Format summary: This should give the good quality wihtout too much data-rate overhead. May be too heavy to play back smoothly live on some live setups, especially if you're scratching with it. From this format you can re-encode any codec or resolution you like with minimal quality loss.
If you can't play the downloaded file you probably need Quicktime, you can get it from the Apple website
File format: .MOV Compatibility: Windows & Macintosh
Format summary: This should give the good quality wihtout too much data-rate overhead. May be too heavy to play back smoothly live on some live setups, especially if you're scratching with it. From this format you can re-encode any codec or resolution you like with minimal quality loss.

Encoding: PAL/NTSC MPEG2 @ 8mbps
Compatibility: Windows & Macintosh
Format summary: Whilst MPEG2s aren't 100% frame accurate like the quicktime PhotoJPEG above, this should give a good quality image but with smoother playback where the Quicktime might have been too slow. This is also a good format to use if you're burngin the clips onto DVD for use in DVJs.
If you can't play the downloaded file you most likely need a free MPEG2 codec. There are plenty of them about - here's one to be going on with.

Compatibility: Windows only
Format summary: This additional format is provided as a courtesy for users who are limited to power-of-two resolutions (e.g. Pilgrim). The picture quality isn't as good as the previous two formats but these clips are encoded to be scratchable. To play this format you'll need the Midivid VQ codec which you can download .
If you can't play the downloaded file you probably need the MidiVid VQ performance codec
Compatibility: Windows only
