Video Vix from "VJ Dragone Rosso"
This mix was sent in by one of our loops customers from Italy - Vincenzo aka "VJ Dragone Rosso" (Red Dragon). He publishes a well-read video blog on Libero.it (a sort of Italian Youtube). The mix uses primarily loops which are all available from our shop plus a few random shadow dancers ...well, whatever..it's a great mix so enjoy the video courtesy of our friends in Bella Italia =) We're hoping to have a DVD-sized version of the mix for members of our mailng list over the next few days.

Visuals and audio enjoy a strange relationship. Much of the time Visuals are like a good surround-sound setup - if it's done right, you don't even realise it's there because you're so involved with the experience. People go to a club for the music and the company but you can make or break the show from the VJ booth.
Simply controlling so many square metres of light and dark can have a direct impact on a club.
You can also communicate an idea at the speed of light.
Yawns have been shown to be infectious... you see someone yawn on TV and there's an undeniable pang to stretch those jaw muscles. There was no conscious exchange of information or a "yawning schedule" - you see it, you do. Simple really.
Why visuals? well there's the answer right there. "subconscious mirroring". You see someone yawn and you can feel the yawn build already....see people dancing, you feel like dancing. You as club promoter, party organiser, VJ etc have the opportunity to, to a large degree, control the mood in your club simply by what you show on your projector screens or plasmas.
Whether it's folks dancing round a flickerng camp fire or ravers strobin'-it-out in a club, it's the same deal....glowey stuff rocks \o/

After getting yet more valuable feedback from our customers we've added a "Low Resolution" clips section with clips at 320x240 resolution. Kid Kadian gets the ball rolling with 60 clips, currently only 10p each.

Whilst all the new stuff we're producing is at higher resolutions, many VJs still use this format and we have quite a lot of content available in this size. It seems daft to discard such a vast wealth of work just because it's not in the latest format, particularly when it's still so widely used.
Many VJs still swear by 320x240 as a format and in terms of a standard which will work on pretty much any VJ system of any spec, this is probably it. The clips are provided as 320x240 at 30fps, Quicktime MJPEG at 80% quality.
Kid Kadian
These are the first of Kid Kadian's clips, his recently launched DVD has been doing well and he's very kindly made some of his superb collection available for us to download.
Like with the other VJ content these clips will start at 10p each and the price will increment by a small amount with each sale, but to allow for the smaller resolution the rate it goes up will be slower than for the other VJ content we offer.

Experiment continues Firstly - thanks for the excellent response to the "Looprush" experiment. Whilst the experiment is also open to general site visitors, there hasn't been any explanation of the pricing posted on the site so it's actually only you guys who know what's going on with it.
As it turns out it looks like this might be quite a good pricing model for our loops - we've definitely noticed some folks digging for bargains and there were definitely also a few "early birds" who cleaned up by getting hundreds of loops for just a few pence each which is the sort of balance we were hoping for. We've also added youtube-style "tags" to many of the loops so you can find similar content with just a mouseclick.
There will probably still be some little adjustments to the pricing, but overall I'm pretty pleased with how it's worked. There's still a large number of bargains to be had (i.e. 10p loops) but there's also some definite favourites emerging which is interesting in itself.
New Loops I've also added a set of 10 new loops by me, mostly based around the themes of "interference" and "distortion".
To give you a rough idea of how they could look live I've made a short video mix using those new loops and some of the Kontainer ones posted last week.
Free video mix DVD-download I've put a version of the mix on youtube, but only for our list members only there's also as a free full-resolution DVD-download (about 306mb, PAL+NTSC versions, url below).
It's a .ISO DVD image - if you don't know how to burn that please see the "Burning guides" in the Help section of our website for step by step burning on Mac + Pc.
The DVD-download is video-only has none of the scrolling text like the youtube vid. It's also "public performance licensed" so it's ok to use in your club or party if you want to. Unfortunately I had to remove the audio from the DVD download for licensing reasons, but it's included on the Youtube clip.

We've been selling VJ loops, clips and backdrops for a while now and they're doing pretty well but I'm not sure people really *get* the degree of choice they have by being able to pick loops and clips individually rather than getting a loop-pack - where more often than not you end up paying for the loops you want but also a bunch of others you may not be as interested in.
So I've been giving this some thought and I had an idea which I'm testing this week. All the loops, clips and backdrops start at a fixed price namely a whopping £0.10 / eu0.12 / $0.19 each. Each time a loop gets sold its price goes up by a few pence, up to a given threshold so things don't get unreasonably expensive.
Why are we doing this?
Well *hopefully* it means that folks who regularly check the site for updates will be rewarded with cheap VJ content. By buying those cheap loops, they also help sort the best loops for other visitors since then we can show what's been popular so far.
Also hopefully this should mean that each loop or clip is priced on its own merit. A really great loop will attract more buyers and thus a higher price, and less popular loops will cost less. The idea is that overall it should be a fairer pricing model for everyone.
At this stage this really is an experiment - we'll run it for a week and see what happens, but if anything goes crazy we may have to pull it and re-think, but I'm hoping it'll bring both fairer pricing and better value at the same time as ensuring there is content for VJs on a wider range of budgets.
Of course, as usual, you get access to each clip in 4 different formats and you can download one or all of them at no extra cost.
Oh and to get the ball rolling I've just added 127 new Kontainer loops with themes as diverse as X-rays, counters, Fire and people dancing....so...
...as they say...
"Fill yer boots!"
...because right now - every single bit of VJ content we have on sale is only 10p!
